CROW CAMP ON THE LITTLE BIGHORN RIVER, Crow – Elsa Byron 1927
    Photo - New
Historically known by Native Americans as the "Valley of Greasy Grass" due to the lush growth and rich supply of available forage for their livestock, villages of teepees have been erected on the banks of the Little Bighorn River (Montana) for hundreds of years. Known today as the "Valley of the Little Bighorn", Custer's Last Stand took place within earshot of where this peaceful village stood. Photograph by Elsa Spear Byron, 1927 (197)
