These Collectible Heritage Decoys are a creation by J.B. Garton, A World Champion Carver. A longtime admirer of North American waterfowl, J.B. Garton is known for his attention to detail and accuracy. As a result, every decoy is remarkably true to life. Born in Manitoba in 1924, J.B."s exceptional skills gained recognition when he was just a young man of 18, winning him many carving competitions. He went on to earn the title of World Champion Carver by winning the prestigious Ward Brothers Championship held annually in Maryland. Skilled technicians create perfect reproductions of the originals using a cold cast hand poured method. Meticulous artisans then hand detail each piece in the final preparation before painting. Finally, highly trained artists hand paint every feather and feature; a lengthy, painstaking but essential process in completing a Heritage Decoy.
The Hen Mallard with Chick (Colvert femelle avec oisillon) and Canada Goose (Bernache du Canada) are both in excellent condition with no scratches or damage. The Canada Goose has a minor nick on the cheek and the Mallard has a small nick on the tip of the beak - shown in photographs.
Both have their original tags on the bottom.
Each measures approximately 5” x 2-1/2” x 1-1/2” and weigh about 5 ounces.
