MTZ-80 “Belarus” is a brand of universal tilled wheel tractors manufactured by the Minsk Tractor Plant from 1974 to the present.
To the creation and mass production of the family of tractors MTZ-80 (82) Minsk Tractor Plant them. V.I. Lenin was able to start after the release in 1966 of the Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR No. 606, which said “the need to produce universal tilled tractors with a capacity of at least 75-80 liters. with. and traction class at least 1.4 ". Enormous money and resources were allocated at that time. In order to accelerate the creation and reduction of costs for the re-equipment of the main plant and related enterprises, it was decided to thoroughly modernize the MTZ-50 tractor family.
A large number of changes have been made to the design of the car. The main ones were the new plating, cabin, and high-powered engine D-240 of the Minsk Motor Plant.
Already in 1972, tests of the new tractor were successfully completed. During the tests, the aggregated machines and tools were identified, the number of which was about 230. And the increased, due to the increase in engine speed to 2,200, the speed to 33.2 km / h, made it possible to use the tractor more rationally in transport operations.
The tractor got onto the conveyor in 1974, and in 1975, in Chisinau, the tracked version of the T-70 tractor went onto the conveyor. Initially, the tractor had a small cabin, but already in 1980, the MTZ-80 (82) began to install a more spacious and comfortable cabin, with a larger glazing area, which was developed in the mid-1970s for promising models. With minor modifications, such a cabin was installed in 2018 on all models manufactured on the basis of MTZ 80.1 and 82.1.
In November 2012, the tractor participated in a protest march of Baltic farmers in Brussels. The peasant Kaspars Gulbis, in protest against unjust direct subsidies, set off on a tractor MTZ-80 from Tallinn to Brussels.
