Offering a beautiful Oval Serving Platter by Ridgway, Sparks & Ridgway in the Indus pattern, circa 1877.
A beautiful example from the Aesthetic Movement,
this
black transfer
platter has a Japanese influence with naturalistic birds, Asian inspired buildings and the floral and foliage created around the rim. The back is
stamped with the
INDUS RSR
and the
English Registry
stamp dating the platter/pattern to 1877 and an impression year showing 82,
1882
Measures 15 ¾” long x 12 ¾” wide
In good antique condition free of chips, cracks or repairs: please note there is scratching and some discoloration on the surface as well as crazing commensurate with age and use
