    TDT-40 is a Soviet skidder made from 1956 at the Minsk Tractor Plant and from 1957 at the Onega Tractor Plant until the end of the 60s.
    The tractor was intended for the removal of logs directly from the cutting area. In addition to skidding the forest, he was indispensable on the logging, on all kinds of transport work in off-road conditions. For one flight took out an average of 5 m3 of wood.
    In the early 50s, the USSR Ministry of Forest Industry decided to abandon the gas generator KT-12A, which had ceased to meet the demands of the forest industry, and set the task for the Minsk Tractor Plant to create a new 60 hp skidder. However, the engineers and the plant management decided that one powerful tractor class for all zones in all forestry operations would be uneconomical, so they decided to create an average tractor.
    The design of the TDT-40 was developed in 1954 by a team of designers under the leadership of Ivan Iosifovich Drong. The operational tests of the 1955 tractor TDT-40 was successful and the interdepartmental commission decided to start its production.
